Caption It currently has both international and domestic captioning contracts. We have a range of positions available, with varying hours of work, which incorporate days, evenings, weekends and public holidays. If you possess the following qualities, we encourage you to apply to work within our rapidly expanding company, with sites in Brisbane, Sydney and Canberra. Whilst previous experience is preferred, it is not essential as training will be provided.
Captioner
To be a captioner, you need to possess the following:
- Excellent knowledge of the English language - spelling, grammar and punctuation
- The ability to touch type at a minimum of 50wpm
- Computer literacy skills
- A keen interest in current affairs and good overall general knowledge
- The ability to work well in a pressured environment and meet tight deadlines
- The ability to work in a team with minimal supervision
- The ability to work flexible hours
- The ability to pass set in-house captioning edit reviews and grammar and general knowledge tests
- The ability to complete other duties as required
Stenocaptioner
To be a stenocaptioner, you need to possess the following:
- A completion certificate in machine shorthand writing from an accredited university, college or school
- The ability to consistently write machine shorthand at 200wpm and above with a minimum accuracy rate of 98%
- A good conflict-free CAT compatible shorthand theory
- The ability to pass set in-house speed and accuracy tests
- Excellent knowledge of the English language - spelling, grammar and punctuation
- The ability to touch type at a minimum of 50wpm
- Computer literacy skills
- A keen interest in current affairs and good overall general knowledge
- The ability to work well in a pressured environment and meet tight deadlines
- The ability to work in a team with minimal supervision
- The ability to work flexible hours
- The ability to pass set in-house captioning edit reviews and grammar and general knowledge tests
- The ability to complete other duties as required
