Captioner
To be a captioner, you need to possess the following:
- Excellent knowledge of the English language (written and spoken), including spelling, grammar and punctuation
- The ability to touch type at a minimum of 50wpm
- Computer literacy skills
- Superior proofreading skills
- A keen interest in current affairs and good overall general knowledge
- The ability to work well in a pressured environment and meet tight deadlines
- The ability to work in a team, or autonomously, with minimal supervision
- The desire to work flexible hours
- The ability to pass set in-house captioning edit reviews, plus grammar and general knowledge tests
Stenocaptioner
All of Caption It’s stenocaptioners are required to have:
- Excellent knowledge of the English language (written and spoken), including spelling, grammar and punctuation
- A completion certificate in machine shorthand writing from an accredited university, college or school
- The ability to consistently write machine shorthand at 200wpm or higher with a minimum accuracy rate of 98%
- A good conflict-free shorthand theory
- The ability to pass set in-house speed and accuracy tests
- Excellent knowledge of the English language – spelling, grammar and punctuation
- The ability to touch type at a minimum of 50wpm
- Computer literacy skills
- A keen interest in current affairs and good overall general knowledge
- The ability to work well in a pressured environment and meet tight deadlines
- The ability to work in a team, or autonomously, with minimal supervision
- The desire to work flexible hours
- The ability to pass set in-house captioning edit reviews, plus grammar and general knowledge tests
Respeaker
To be a Respeaker, you need to possess the following:
- Excellent knowledge of the English language (written and spoken), including spelling, grammar and punctuation
- The ability to touch type at a minimum of 50wpm
- Computer literacy skills and an aptitude to quickly adjust to new environments and software
- An eye for detail and sound proofreading skills
- A keen interest in current affairs and good overall general knowledge
- The ability to work well in a pressured environment and meet tight deadlines
- The ability to work in a team, or autonomously, with minimal supervision
- The desire to work flexible hours
- The ability to pass set in-house edit reviews, plus grammar and general knowledge tests
