If you possess the following qualities, we encourage you to apply and become a member of our exciting and eclectic team. While previous experience is preferred, it is not essential. Training will be provided, as necessary.

Stenocaptioner

All of Caption It’s stenocaptioners are required to have:

  • Excellent knowledge of the English language (written and spoken), including spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • A completion certificate in machine shorthand writing from an accredited university, college or school
  • The ability to consistently write machine shorthand at 200wpm or higher with a minimum accuracy rate of 98%
  • A good conflict-free shorthand theory
  • The ability to pass set in-house speed and accuracy tests
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language – spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • The ability to touch type at a minimum of 50wpm
  • Computer literacy skills
  • A keen interest in current affairs and good overall general knowledge
  • The ability to work well in a pressured environment and meet tight deadlines
  • The ability to work in a team, or autonomously, with minimal supervision
  • The desire to work flexible hours
  • The ability to pass set in-house captioning edit reviews, plus grammar and general knowledge tests
